I don't know what the other reviewers were talking about. The blades on this kitchen tool are razor sharp. I wouldn't dare try running my fingers over them. This slicer cuts through anything you throw it's way. Sometimes you need to approach the blades with a little speed going down the runway but it definitely does the job.
It's true that you may not be able to slice the entire vegetable because some of it is in the holder, but that's my biggest complaint, and it's a small price to pay for avoiding a sliced knuckle or worse.
