This is my second pair of Oxo locking tongs and I've been pleased with both. My first Oxo tongs did not have nylon heads, which is fine, but I wanted to try these tongs out. Having the nylon heads helps to not puncture food (or tear apart), scratch nonstick skillets, etc. I got a bunch of use out of my original Oxo tongs, but having the nylon heads definitely is an added benefit. You do have to keep them away from high heat (grills, or keeping them against a skillet for an extended period of time).
The grips are helpful and have the same quality as the rest of the utensil. The overall quality is top notch. The locking mechanism will last for a long time and these tongs do stand up to the Oxo name. Highly recommended.
