I've used a few different cheese slicers of this type. This one is very easy to hold, which of course is what "Good Grips" products are all about. The wire is easily replaced. It was two or three years before we needed to replace one, but it's simple to do when the time comes. The tension is easily adjusted. The slicer cleans easily; there don't seem to be places where old cheese collects and is hard to wash away. Adjusting for the thickness of the slice is a matter of angling the tool, which works. I've had slicers with mechanical adjusters for thickness, but they didn't actually work very well. It's a simple tool, but there seem to be many ways to go wrong even so. This one seems to me to get it all as close to right as any I have seen, and I have been quite pleased with it.
